FAQ
That depends on your concerns. If you're looking to understand learning, attention, or academic struggles, a psychoeducational assessment is likely the right fit. If you're wondering about ADHD or autism in adulthood, a specific assessment to look at those areas is more appropriate. And if you're looking for insight into emotional or mental health challenges, a psychodiagnostic assessment may be best. Learn about the types of assessments we offer. We're happy to help clarify this in a free phone consultation.
The full assessment process usually takes place over a few weeks. Direct testing typically involves 2–3 sessions, each lasting about 2–3 hours. The entire process, including intake, testing, feedback, and report delivery depends on scheduling and complexity, and the completion of questionnaires.
Only if it’s appropriate. Diagnoses are provided when the assessment findings clearly support one and when it’s helpful for guiding support or accommodations. If there isn’t a diagnosis, you’ll still receive a detailed explanation of your or your child’s strengths and needs, along with personalized recommendations.
A psychometrist is a trained professional who administers and scores psychological and educational tests. They work under the supervision of a licensed psychologist and are skilled in creating a comfortable testing environment, ensuring that assessments are conducted accurately and consistently. Psychometrists do not provide diagnoses or interpret test results independently, but their work is essential in helping psychologists understand a client’s cognitive, emotional, and academic functioning.
Once the assessment is complete, we’ll meet with you to review the findings and recommendations. You’ll receive a written report that clearly explains the results and outlines helpful next steps, whether that’s support at school or work, referrals to therapy, or strategies you can use at home. We also offer a follow-up check-in a few months later to see how things are going.
Yes. Assessment reports can help inform care from physicians, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other health professionals. They often provide valuable background and diagnostic clarity that support treatment planning, medication decisions, or eligibility for certain services. While we don’t provide medical treatment, our reports are designed to support collaborative care across settings.
Yes. Our reports include detailed recommendations that can support requests for accommodations at school, post-secondary institutions, or in the workplace. While we can’t guarantee that all accommodations will be approved, the assessment can provide strong documentation to support applications for an Individual Education Plan (IEP), Disability Services, or workplace support programs.
Our work at The Savi Centre is focused exclusively on psychological assessments. We specialize in providing clear, comprehensive evaluations that help individuals and families better understand learning, attention, mental health, and neurodevelopmental needs. By focusing solely on assessments, we’re able to offer deep expertise, thoughtful analysis, and reports that are practical, clear, and truly useful. While we don’t offer therapy, we’re happy to connect you with trusted providers who can offer the right support after the assessment is complete.
Many extended health insurance plans cover psychological services provided or supervised by a registered psychologist. It’s a good idea to check your plan details to see what’s included, as coverage varies. We do not bill insurance companies directly, but we provide detailed receipts that you can submit for reimbursement. Please also check for any limitations your insurance may have for hours or amounts as receipts can not be reissued.
At this time, we do not offer low-cost or sliding scale services directly to individual clients. However, we are committed to supporting marginalized and under-resourced communities by providing pro bono and discounted assessment services through partnerships with community organizations and groups.
When possible, we will direct bill to your insurance company. We also require a credit card to be kept on file at the time of booking to secure appointments and process payments. If keeping a card on file isn’t possible for you, we’re happy to discuss alternative arrangements. Just let us know, and we’ll work together to find a solution that fits.
